Tournament Rules

Hot Lap Sprints Races

Rules

The Friday event will get underway with a hot lap sprint. Much like a qualifying event, drivers have to oppotunity to see who can put in a quick lap in the short number of laps available. Bonus points are available for fastest times for each group.

Sprints last a total of 10 laps maximum. Lower-ranking drivers will be able to race first. The second driver will then pull up to the start-finish line and pull away from stationary approximately 10 seconds later. This will be called by the highest-ranking driver or a pre-decided driver (i.e someone at the back). When the 2nd driver pulls away, the 3rd driver will pull forward and start from a standstill 10 seconds later. This will continue until all drivers are away. The will be a minimal finish countdown timer so you may be unable to finish the lap you are on, even if you are on a current hot lap. This puts the advantage to those who go first and makes hard work for those at the back just to keep things interesting!

Rules

Race events begin 23:00 sharp each Friday. Please see fixtures link from main page for track and date details.
Drivers are arranged into Groups. These groups are decided from results of previous GF5 competitions and are subject to change in the interest of fairness and fun throughout the cup. Depending on your current standing you may also be issued with a handicap PI penalty to even the playing field and make for more exciting overtaking possibilities for those at the back
With this cup, we are also introducing Nemesis Points for beating your rivals at the chequered flag
Base points and NP will be allocated as follows.

Scoring

Base points are awarded for the following finishing results:

Fastest Time in Group A : 1 point

Fastest time in Group B: 2 points

Fastest time in Group C: 2 points (correction: was 3 for first 2 races. results updated to reflect new rule)

GROUPS:

Group A

aZZ

BD

Kidd

Group B

Cheese

Mez

Group C

Binks

Ralcos

Prince C

Scoring

Base points are awarded for the following finishing results:
1st: 10 points
2nd: 8 points
3rd: 6 points
4th: 5 points
5th: 3 points
6th+: 2 points
DNF >50% laps completed: 1 point (this is purely so people who have a connection problem don’t get too penalised!)
DNF <50% laps/No show: 0 points

In addition to these, bonus points are available.

Group A Rivals: Max PI = A825
Group NP bonus: +0
aZZ (+0)
BD (+0)
Kidd (+0)

Group B Rivals: Max PI = A850
Group NP bonus: +1

Cheese (+1)

Mez (+1)

Group C Rivals: Max PI = A850
Group NP bonus: +1

Binks (+1)

Ralcos (+1)

Prince (+1)

+1 bonus point for each person you beat in your group
+1 additional bonus point if you beat any opponent from a higher group

For example: If, in a single race, PrinceC was to beat Ralcos (+1 NP bonus), Binks (+1 NP bonus), and Cheese (+1 NP bonus, +1 Group bonus) and finished 5th (4 points) he would score 8 points in total. Obviously the more people who show, the more potential there is to beat a rival!
Note: Group A drivers will be unable to earn bonus points so drive hard!
So if aZZ came 2nd (8 points and no bonus points), he would tie with PrinceC’s 5th place at 8 points. If PrinceC won the race he would have earned a potential 13 points in total if every other driver took part!
